3 Healthy Dog Pupsicle Recipes for Hot Summer Days
Hot summer days are the perfect opportunity to cool down with a frozen treat for both you AND your dog.
These dog popsicles (aka pupsicles) are a tasty and refreshing treat for your dog, but they do not compromise on nutrition!
Each recipe features dog-safe, healthy ingredients and provides hydration to help cool your dog down when it’s hot outside.
Dog popsicle ingredients
We’re doing THREE different recipes made with nutritious, whole food ingredients that both you and your dog can enjoy.
These recipes are naturally sweetened with fruit and no added sweeteners, and they’re loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Here’s what you need to make each one.
Blueberry Banana Popsicles
- Blueberries: Blueberries are incredibly nutritious! They’re a good source of dietary fiber, manganese, and an excellent source of Vitamin K. They’re also packed with antioxidants, which help fight inflammation.
- Banana: Bananas provide dietary fiber, potassium, and small amounts of Vitamin C, folate, and choline.
- Plain Greek yogurt: For dogs that tolerate dairy, Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein. It also provides calcium to support bone health and Vitamin B12.
Frozen Watermelon Bites
- Watermelon: True to its name, watermelon is made of over 90% water, so it is incredibly hydrating. This makes it an excellent choice to serve your dog on a particularly hot day. Watermelon also contains the antioxidant lycopene, which helps protect against cellular damage.
Green Mango Popsicles
- Spinach: I love adding spinach to smoothies and homemade popsicles! It adds a boost of nutrition without affecting the flavor. Spinach is an excellent source of Vitamin K. It also provides Vitamin A, iron, potassium, and magnesium. It’s one of the best sources of lutein, a plant compound that has eye health and brain health benefits.
- Mango: Mango adds natural sweetness to popsicle recipes. It’s an excellent source of Vitamin C and a good source of folate.
- Banana
- Plain Greek yogurt
